Community Involvement
They went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confrimed the message by signs that accompanied it. — Mark 16
St. Paul’s Shawnee has long supported local organizations such as the Habitat for Humanity, Tonawanda and Lockport Salvation Army, Tonawanda and Lockport Food Pantry, Tonawanda Clothes Closet, Wyndham Lawn Home, Niagara Hospice, Brothers of Mercy, Tonawanda and Lockport, Meals-on-Wheels, and until just recently, the United Church of Christ Home, which ceased operations in 2004.
Through its active Christian Education program, Junior and Senior Youth Groups, and Women’s Guild, St. Paul’s directly engaged the local, national, and world communities by participating in “Souper Bowl Sunday,” Tsunami Relief Fund efforts, and our contributions to the United Church of Christ’s Wider Mission.
Late in 2004, St. Paul’s collected and donated funds to the Vets of the Cross Christmas Fund, One Great Hour of Sharing, the Southern Hurricane Victims, and Neighbors in Need.
The community at large has been, and will remain, a key focus for our church’s mission.
